The Vision

South Gauteng has always deserved this.

A 5.2-hectare, purpose-built medical wellness resort on the outskirts of Johannesburg. Groundbreaking 2027. Doors open 2028.

The Need

The gap in south Gauteng is not small.

"Most of our patients don't need a hospital. They need rest, care, and an environment designed for recovery."

The communities of southern Johannesburg, Soweto, Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark carry some of the highest chronic disease burdens in Gauteng. Hypertension, diabetes, burnout, and chronic stress are everyday realities for millions of people who have never had access to a facility built specifically for them.

1

Chronic Illness is StructuralNearly 3 in 10 adults in Gauteng carry hypertension. 1 in 9 carry diabetes. These conditions need integrated, sustained care — not a 10-minute consultation.

2

Burnout Has No AddressMore than half of employed South Africans report symptoms of chronic stress. There is no retreat. No sanctuary. No place designed for them to truly recover.

3

The Gap is GeographicEvery comparable wellness facility in Gauteng serves a different community. South Gauteng's 2.8 million people have been left out entirely. The Roots changes that.

Close enough to be accessible — from Soweto, from Vereeniging, from the southern suburbs. Far enough away that the moment you arrive, you feel the difference.
